거장 루이 암스트롱의 What A Wonderful World는 지금까지 세계에서
가장 많이 불리워진 Jazz곡으로도 잘 알려져 있지만, 우리나라 젊은 이들에게는
Goodmorning Vietnam의 Ending Title로 더 잘 알려져있다.
아름다운 세상을 노래하면서도 실은 그다지 아름답지 않고 오히려 추하고,
아픔이 넘치는 상황을 역설적으로 보여준 Goodmorning Vietnam속의 이 곡은
나를 포함한 많은 이들에게 PARADOX라는 것을 제대로 느끼게 해주었다.

하지만, 어두운 유년기를 겪고 세계 최고의 Jazz Artist로 태어난 그에게 있어
네 번의 결혼을 겪고 만난 루씰(진 암스트롱)과의 사랑은 그에게 이런 곡이 나올 수
밖에 없는 상황을 만들어주었다. 음악의 반려이자, 평생의 동반자였던 루씰.

루이가 사망한 1971년, 그녀 역시 심장마비로 세상을 떠남으로써 사랑의 완성을
이루어 낸다.

사랑으로 이뤄낸 명곡, 그에게 세상이 아름다울 수 밖에 없었던 것은 바로
죽음도 갈라놓을 수 없었던 사랑이 있었기 때문이다.
